Chief Executive Officer Gerhard Roiss said it is too early to discuss pricing mechanisms for natural gas to flow through the Nabucco West pipeline.
"First we have to see where the pipeline goes to and to which customers," he said. Once that is known there will be an "open-season" process and producers must know at what price they would be willing to sell gas.
"It won't happen this year," Mr. Roiss said.
Nabucco West--a shortened version of the originally proposed Nabucco pipeline--is in the running to bring gas from the Caspian region to Europe, helping to reduce the continent's reliance on Russian energy. OMV is one of the partners in the Nabucco project.
