OAO Gazprom Neft (SIBN.RS), the oil unit of state gas giant OAO Gazprom (GAZP.RS), said Monday that net profit for the first half increased 0.4% on last year to 78.7 billion Russian rubles ($2.47 billion), on the back of increased hydrocarbon production and higher oil-refining volumes.

The company didn't give figures for the second quarter of 2012. Analysts in an Interfax survey had forecast a 7.1% fall in second-quarter profit on the year to RUB30.3 billion.

MAIN FACTS:

- First-half revenue rose 18.8% on year to RUB579.2 billion.

- Adjusted earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortization, or Ebitda, totaled RUB149.3 billion for the six months, up 6.6% on year.

- Capex increased 15.1% on the year to RUB62.3 billion.

- Hydrocarbon production increased 5.1% to 217.0 million barrels of oil equivalent.
