China 's imports of natural gas in July rose to 3.5 billion cubic meters, up 28.2% from a year earlier, the National Development and Reform Commission said Monday.

January-July imports rose to 23.3 billion cubic meters, up 38.6%.

China 's apparent natural gas consumption rose 10.5% in July to 11.4 billion cubic meters, and 12.8% in the January-July period to 82.8 billion cubic meters, the NDRC added.

The NDRC didn't elaborate on how it calculates apparent consumption.
