Russian state oil giant OAO Rosneft (ROSN.RS) has signed a deal to increase natural-gas supplies to the Russian arm of Germany 's E.ON AG (EOAN.XE), the companies said Monday.

Rosneft will deliver 4.65 billion cubic meters of gas to E.ON Russia's Surgutskaya GRES-2 power station from 2013 to 2015. Rosneft already supplies gas to the power generator, with planned deliveries of 1.1 billion cubic meters this year.

Rosneft said the conclusion of the agreement gives it the possibility to supply gas to other E.ON Russia facilities.

Independents and oil companies are increasingly challenging OAO Gazprom's (GAZP.RS) dominance of the Russian domestic market. In August, E.ON Russia signed a $22-billion deal for gas deliveries from OAO Novatek (NVTK.RS),
Russia 's biggest independent gas company, from 2013 to 2027.
