The safety situation of Europe 's nuclear power plants is generally satisfactory but there is no compromise to be made on the issue, the European Energy Commissioner said Monday.

"Generally the situation is satisfactory but there is no room for complacency," Guenther Oettinger said in a statement. "We must work together to ensure that the highest safety standards are in force in every single nuclear power plant in Europe ," he said.
