Angola 's oil production is projected to grow around 4% to more than 1.8 million barrels a day this year, the International Monetary Fund said in a statement Wednesday following a visit to the West African country.

Angola produced 1.73 million barrels a day of oil last year, according to the most recent report from the Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries, of which Angola is a member.

Angola is Africa 's second-largest oil producer after Nigeria and relies upon revenues from exports of the fossil fuel to make up a large portion of its budget.
