Eni SpA (E) Wednesday said it has discovered new oil in the Meleiha Concession in the Western Desert of Egypt.

The Italian company said the discovery was in the NFW well "Rosa North 1X." The company foresees drilling at least two development wells in 2013, projecting each will produce 2,000 barrels of oil per day.

Eni also said that the Meleiha Concession still holds significant potential for deep exploration.
