French state-owned nuclear engineering firm Areva SA (AREVA.FR) Monday said the output at its uranium mines hit a record in 2012 at 9,760 tons.

MAIN FACTS:

- Areva's mining sites in Kazakhstan and Niger beat their all-time highs for the second consecutive year: KATCO reported output of 3,661 tons of uranium (53 tons more than in 2011) and SOMAIR reported 3,065 tons of Uranium (339 tons more than in 2011).

- The other Nigerien mine, COMINAK, also turned in an outstanding performance, with 512 tons as Areva's share and a total of 1,506 tons.

- The Trekkopje site in Namibia produced 251 tons.
