Russia 's OAO Gazprom (GAZP.RS) will decide whether to expand the Nord Stream gas pipeline to Northern Europe after it completes a feasibility study into a separate pipeline extension to Central Europe via Poland , Gazprom's Chief Executive Alexei Miller said Tuesday.

Gazprom said last week that it would build an expansion to the Yamal-Europe pipeline that takes gas through
Poland to Europe . But within hours Polish officials said they knew nothing about the plan. Mr. Miller said Tuesday that the feasibility study would be completed by October.

Gazprom agreed Monday with Dutch gas firm Nederlandse Gasunie NV to consider extending the Nord Stream pipeline that takes gas to
Germany via the Baltic Sea .

The state-controlled firm is pressing ahead with a number of pipeline projects despite dwindling demand in
Europe . Gazprom is trying to reduce its dependence on neighbor Ukraine , which transships the bulk of Russian supplies to Europe , its most lucrative market.
