Russian gas giant OAO Gazprom (GAZP.RS) is likely to make a formal offer to buy a majority stake in a Belgian power plant held by Enel SpA (ENEL.MI), Italy's energy utility, according to Italian business tabloid, Milano Finanza, Thursday.

Gazprom could sign a letter of intent to buy the Marcinelle Energie plant at the International Economic Forum being held in St. Petersburg on 20-22 June, said MF, without identifying its sources.

Although the price had yet to be established, the offer could exceed 250 million euros ($26.8 million).

Enel has previously said it was considering selling its 80% stake in the plant, acknowledging Gazprom's interest in it.
