Russian oil major OAO Rosneft (ROSN.RS) and Eni SpA (E) are looking into opportunities to cooperate abroad and may work in Africa together, Eni Chief Executive Paolo Scaroni told Interfax on the sidelines of the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum Friday.

"It is too early to talk about [concrete] countries in which our cooperation is possible but we would definitely like to do business outside of
Russia ," he said.

He said that
Africa may be one of the possible regions for cooperation adding that the two companies are "actively working" on an agreement on this.

In 2013-2014, seismic work on Russian shelf sections where the companies are working together will begin, he also said.

"In the next five years we plan to spend $700 million to $800 million," Mr. Scaroni said.
