Iraq 's crude oil exports in May were down 5.4% to 2.480 million barrels a day, versus 2.622 million barrels a day in April due to bad weather in the southern oil terminals in the Gulf and acts of sabotage against the northern oil export pipeline to Turkey , the Iraqi oil ministry said in a statement Sunday.

"The decrease in
Iraq 's crude oil exports in May was due to several days of bad weather in the southern export terminals and due to acts of sabotage against the (northern) Kirkuk-Ceyhan export pipeline," said the statement emailed to Dow Jones Newswires.

Iraq earned some $7.477 billion from oil sales in May, compared with $7.764 billion in the previous month, the statement added.

It said that
Iraq sold its crude oil in May at an average price of $97.230 a barrel compared with $98.705 a barrel in April.

Iraq exported 2.197 million barrels a day from southern oil fields in May via export terminals in the Gulf, compared with 2.316 million barrels a day the previous month, it said.

Some 283,000 barrels a day were exported in May from northern oil fields to the Mediterranean
port of Ceyhan in Turkey , compared with 306,000 barrels a day the previous month, it added.
