The Austrian oil and gas company OMV AG (OMV.VI) said Tuesday most of its production in Libya has been shut-in since June 25, 2013.

The company added that it is monitoring the situation.

In 2012, OMV produced around 30,000 barrels of oil equivalent per day in Libya. OMV's total production in 2012 was 303,000 boe/d.

OMV spokesman Robert Lechner told The Wall Street Journal that only a handful of expatriate workers are in Libya and that OMV isn't aware of any damage to its property there.

In 2011, OMV was forced to shut down production in Libya after civil war broke out in the country, but had since then started production again.

Libya--which plays a key role in feeding European refineries--has been rattled by frequent protests and strikes at its oil fields and ports.
