The Iraqi cabinet has agreed to extend Jordan $25 million in aid to meet its energy needs, the Jordanian official news agency Petra reported Tuesday.

Jordanian government spokesman Mohammed al-Mumoni told the agency that Iraq would pay the money as crude oil supplies to the kingdom.

Jordan imports around 15,000 barrels of oil a day from Iraq at a heavily discounted price of dated Brent minus $18 a barrel to help offset the kingdom's high energy imports bill that reaches more than 4 billion Jordanian dinar ($5.6 billion) a year.

Jordan imports around 100,000 barrels a day to feed its sole refinery in Zarqa near Amman . Most of the kingdom's oil imports now come from Saudi Arabia .
