Shares in German utilities E.ON (EOAN.XE) and RWE (RWE.XE) trade lower
after the defeat of the Free Democrats in German election forces Chancellor
Angela Merkel to look for a new coalition partner. It may be up for discussion
who will have to pay for the country's shift from nuclear to renewable energy,
says a trader. Investors anticipate additional burdens for the utilities, he
notes, and "the energy shift could come to a halt" for a while. E.ON down 1.7% at EUR13.29,
RWE down 1.2% at EUR24.41.
