Romanian state-run nuclear power producer Nuclearelectrica late Wednesday restarted the first reactor at its plant in Cernavoda, which was stopped due to a command and control system malfunction four days ago, news agency Mediafax reported.

Last week, Nuclearelectrica announced the shutdown of the nuclear plant's second reactor because of problems with a transformer. The reactor was restarted Saturday after repair.

The two reactors at Cernavoda, Romania's sole nuclear power plant, cover around 20% of country's energy consumption.
