The head of Russia 's largest oil producer OAO Rosneft (ROSN.RS) said Friday it has signed an asset-swap deal with the country's No.2 producer, Novatek, the Interfax news agency reports.

Igor Sechin said Rosneft will give its stake in gas producer SeverEnergia to Novatek and in exchange will get assets that Rosneft is interested it. He didn't elaborate.

Earlier this year Enel SpA's (ENEL.MI) sold its 40% stake in SeverEnergia to Rosneft for $1.8 billion, despite receiving an offer from Novatek.
