Vattenfall AB , the Swedish state-owned utility, said Friday that it has initiated discussions with the City of Hamburg, Germany, about a possible sale of its electricity grid and district heating businesses in Hamburg .

-The negotiations on a potential take-over by the city are expected to be finalized by Jan. 15, Vattenfall said.
