Indirectly confirming the German newspaper "Handelsblatt" which on Monday wrote that Commission president Jean Claude Junckeris supporting the end of the Troika, the Commission's spokesman, Margaritis Schinas, quoted a pledge given by Junckerhimself at the beginning of his term to replace it.
"In the future, we should be able to replace the 'troika' with a more democratically legitimate and more accountable structure, based around European institutions with enhanced parliamentary control both at European and at national level," was what Mr Juncker said in his mission statement.
Mr Schinasrefused to give any further details, especially as on Wednesday the President of the Commission will meet the new Greek Prime Minister, Alexis Tsipras.
