High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy and European Commission Vice President, Federica Mogherini, surprised everyone by repeatedly referring to the former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia (FYROM) as “Macedonia” at today's press conferenceon EuropeanNeighbourhoodPolicy Review.
One might be tempted to suppose that this signifies a change of policy in Brussels which, like the UN, recognises this country as FYROM, if it was not for European Neighbourhood Policy & Enlargement Negotiations Commissioner Johannes Hahn, standing next to her using the correct name.
So, is it a slip of the tongue,a revelation of Italian designs in the area, or does the EEAS have no respect for the new Greek government?
