Professional exhibition organizer, ATOU SA, at a press conference today in Athens, announced their plans for the first “International Exhibition on Energy Products, Technologies and Processes”, which is to take place on October 5-8, 2005. “Energia International Expo 2005”, the first exhibition of its kind to combine all different forms of energy, will be held at the Piraeus Port Authority/OLP exhibition premises, in the greater Athens vicinity. The Exhibition, and the “International Forum on Energy Technologies” (held in parallel on the same premises), are organized under the auspices of the Hellenic Ministry of Development and in association with the Institute of Energy for South Eastern Europe (IENE).
“Energia International Expo 2005” is organized at a very opportune moment, as worldwide concern on rising energy prices and scarce energy resources is stronger than ever before. Soaring oil, gas and coal prices; exploding energy demand in SE Asia and increased energy needs in Europe and North America; the liberalization of oil and gas markets worldwide; terrorist activity in the Middle East and elsewhere, are among the signs and causes of the profound transformations which the energy sector is currently going through. In view of this unsettling environment, the organization of a major international exhibition and forum on energy provides a unique opportunity for a multi-faceted interaction between producers, consumers, manufacturers and technology providers.
All different forms of energy will be represented at “Energia International Expo 2005”, covering a wide spectrum of commercial products and services. Among others, exhibitors include operators from the following sectors: oil & gas (both upstream and downstream), electricity (production, transmission, generation), coal and clean technologies, transport, sustainable energy systems (renewables, hydrogen, distributed energy resources), energy conservation, environmental protection systems, banking and energy finance, and energy information services.
The organizers’ aim is to bring together a wide range of energy companies and industrial groups from all over the world. Naturally, “Energia International Expo 2005” will focus on developments in South East Europe, where investments in major energy projects are expected to exceed 50 billion euros (U$D 65 billion) over the next five years. In recent years, the whole SE Europe area has experienced substantial and uninterrupted economic growth, a trend that now seems certain to continue in the coming years. Major projects covering all energy sectors (oil, hydro, electricity, renewables) are underway as a new SE Europe energy market -known as ECSEE- involving electricity and gas networks is being developed with financial support from the European Union.
Large, new, flexible and competitive electricity and gas markets are currently being developed on a regional basis, and are expected to operate and expand substantially over the coming years, to the benefit of both consumers, governments and operators, as well as forward-looking investors.
Parallel to the exhibition and in the same premises, the “International Forum on Energy Technologies” will allow the representatives of energy companies to focus on the presentation of the latest products, processes and technologies. A three-day event full of technology-focused sessions is planned, where companies will have the opportunity to present their latest products, new processes and projects. These presentations, and the follow-up discussion and analysis sessions, will provide an ideal opportunity for interaction with prospective buyers. Visitors to “Energia International Expo 2005” will be coming from all over the world, and especially from the Middle East, Central and SE Europe, and from the Russian Federation countries.
