The consortium of Greece’s SENCAP and Italy’s Enel was entitled to enter the second phase of the tender for the development of a new lignite facility in Kosovo, with an estimated installed capacity of 2,100 MW, SENCAP said.
Among the 10 entities which expressed interest for the facility, German RWE AG, and the consortia of Czech CEZ and U.S. AES Corporation and German EnBW and the Washington Group International were shortlisted for the second phase of the tender, which is likely to be completed by the end of next year.
The tender for the lignite facility involves and the associated new electric generating and transmission capacity and the rehabilitation of existing generators as well. The total size of the investment is seen between EUR3.5 billion and EUR5billion.
SENCAP is an affiliated company of Public Power Corp and ContourGlobal, a U.S-based energy fund.
