Energy project constructor Metka signed a contract with the Karachi Electric Supply Corporation in Pakistan for the study, construction and operation of an electricity production substation of 220 MW installed capacity, the company said in a filing to the Athens stock exchange on Wednesday.
The project should be gradually completed and operated from July 30, 2007 until December 22, 2008. The total cost of the investment is around EUR110 million.
The contract gives the option of extending the installed capacity to 250 MW.
Metka emphasises the importance of penetrating a market of 160 million population, where the electricity supply rate does not exceed 60%.
