Hellenic Transmission System Operator is mulling tariff increases for industrial use, according to Greek press. “The tariffs for industrial use will be increased to approach the real cost which now is lower according to Public Power Corp, “ Eleftherotypia wrote on Thursday. The same report said that there will be tariff reductions if the industries will save electricity during the peak hours. Domestic users enjoy low electricity tariffs, as the state-controlled PPC, the country’s main electricity producer, does not implement increases higher than the current inflation rates. However, analysts believe that if such a move with industrial users come into effect, then domestic consumption will follow suit as soon as after the country’s national election scheduled for March 2008.
