Eni SpA is interested in bidding for gas exploration and production (E&P) assets in Libya, the group's CEO Paolo Scaroni said.
"We don't have a bid ready, but I think we'll definitely take part," Scaroni said in a parliamentary hearing.
He said he had read that the Libyan state-owned oil company is ready to organize tender bids for gas E&P projects in the country.
"Libya is a very important country for us and we will certainly pay particular attention to new E&P tender bids there," he said.
Eni owns the 520-km Greenstream gas pipeline linking Libya and Italy, which has a capacity of 8 billion cubic meters.
