Azerbaijan’s state oil company SOCAR’s president visited Turkey late March for meetings with the country’s officials, SOCAR said.
“In near future, SOCAR plans to refine 10 million tons of oil, which will be part of a profit oil to be owned by the company in the frame of joint projects and to deliver these volumes to Turkey and European markets. Prospects of refining Azerbaijan oil in Turkey were subject to discussions in the meeting and parties considered Turkey and Mediterranean Seas as favorable options,” SOCAR said.
Turkey’s Minister of Energy and Natural Resources Hilmi Guler said that SOCAR will become a significant shareholder in the energy market of Turkey gradually.
The sale of Azeri gas to Greece in the second half of the year and the prospects of transportation of Kazakh oil and Turkmen gas through Azerbaijan to Europe were also discussed.
