The Albanian government approved a feasibility study for the construction of natural gas terminals and their relevant infrastructure near Fieri District in Southwest Albania, local media report.
Albania also plans the construction of Hydro Power Plants in an effort to combat the electricity supply crisis arisen from the decreased energy import and the lack of rain. The country’s energy system is highly dependent on the HPPs.
The companies Swiss EGL, Dutch-based Trans European Energy and the international consortium ASG Power SA were approved to build terminals for liquefied natural gas and power plants at Vjosa River in Fieri District.
The construction of the energy facility is expected to cost EUR1.7 billion.
