Russia's OAO Gazprom is considering a possible listing on the Shanghai Stock Exchange, the Vedomosti business daily reported Thursday, citing spokesman Sergei Kupryanov.
The paper cites other unnamed sources as saying the listing was agreed on between Russian Prime Minister Viktor Zubkov and his Chinese counterpart Wen Jiabao in Moscow earlier this week and is part of a wider deal to supply gas to China. The exact details have yet to be decided.
President Vladimir Putin said in March that Russia would start exporting gas to China from 2011. As yet, there is no legal framework for foreign companies to list their shares in Shanghai, Vedomosti noted
