LONDON (Dow Jones)--Russian nuclear energy giant Atomenergoprom is seeking partners with which it can build new nuclear power plants in the U.K., The Times of London reports Friday.
A spokesman for Russia's Atomic Energy Agency in Moscow said: "It's a big market for us and we are keen to enter it." The most likely path for Atomenergoprom to enter the U.K. would be in partnership with another large international company like Areva (CEI.FR) or Siemens AG (SI).
Atomenergoprom aims to win 25% of very major global nuclear market, including the U.K. and Western Europe, the spokesman said.
A U.K. government spokesman told The Times it hasn't received an official expression of interest from the Russian company.
