StatoilHydro AG's (STO) Snoehvit liquefied natural gas plant resumed production Thursday at 60% of design capacity after a shutdown of almost two months, the company said Friday.
The restart took nine hours and involved little gas flaring, the company said in a statement.
"We have performed all of the work we had planned to do within the time schedule and with no serious incidents," said Geir Hopland, the StatoilHydro technician in charge of the turnaround.
Problems with the refrigeration unit have been the main area of focus during the maintenance. After startup last autumn, several of the sea water heat exchangers in the cooling circuits were shown to be insufficiently robust to withstand the force of full production, the company said.
