Iran will shut down a 120,000 barrel- a-day distillation unit for maintenance at its refinery in Isfahan for 22 days beginning in early October, the managing director of the Isfahan Oil Refining Company said Thursday.

"It is planned for the Isfahan refinery... for one of the distillation units to be shut down and go for yearly maintenance," Manoochehr Aghanejad told Dow Jones Newswires in a telephone interview.

"The capacity will be reduced by about 120,000 barrels per day, but the remaining capacity will be continued for the refinery," Aghanejad said.

The refinery's total refining capacity is about 280,000 barrels per day, according to Aghanejad.

"This will take 22 days, during which the unit is inspected and cleaned and some of the procedures for the yearly maintenance are done, and then the unit will be put back into operation," he added.

Aghanejad said the downstream units of the refinery will remain in operation.

"Usually, the capacity of the downstream units are not reduced because we have already kept some feed for them in the intermediate tanks," Aghanejad said.
