New platforms at Iran's Bahregansar oilfield have come on stream and oil from the field is being exported to world markets, the oil ministry's official Shana Web site reported Tuesday, citing a senior Iranian Offshore Oil Company official.

Mohammad Bagher Soleimani, the head of the Bahregan oil region for the IOOC, said after the launch of the field's processing platforms recently, oil is now being exported to world markets through Iran's Kharg terminal in the Persian Gulf, reported Shana.

Soleimani added that there are plans to begin operating a land plant and a desalination unit in the complex, the report said.

The senior oil official said the country's Nowrouz and Soroush heavy oil fields are currently producing 160,000 barrels of heavy oil a day, Shana reported.

According to previous media reports, the IOOC has implemented a renovation program at the Bahregansar oilfield aimed at raising the field's oil production rate from 40,000 barrels a day to 60,000 barrels per day.

The Bahregansar oil field is located in Iran's southern Bushehr province.
