Russian natural gas monopoly OAO Gazprom (GAZP.RS) Thursday said it will try to find a "mutually acceptable solution" to its ongoing feud with Ukrainian gas company Naftogaz.

Gazprom has shut off pipelines flowing through Ukraine due to a pricing dispute. It has accused Naftogaz of stealing Russian gas bound for European Union customers.

The heads of Gazprom and Naftogaz are in Brussels today to meet with E.U. officials. The E.U., which relies on Russia for about 25% of its natural gas needs, has demanded that gas exports resume.

Gazprom, in a statement, said it will ask the E.U. to "bring Ukraine back to the negotiating table."
