Turkey sent a revised nuclear bid back to a Russian-led consortium, the sole bidder in a tender to build and operate Turkey's first nuclear power station, Energy Minister Hilmi Guler said late Monday, the Ihlas News Agency, or IHA, reported Tuesday.

The consortium, which comprises Russian companies Atomstroyexport and Inter Rao UES and Turkish company Park Teknik, was the sole bidder in the tender held Sept. 24 to build and operate a 4,000-megawatt nuclear power station in Akkuyu, near the Turkish Mediterranean port of Mersin.

Monday the consortium had revised its bid after initially offering to sell electricity produced at the plant at an average price of $0.2116 per kilowatt hour.

Guler told channel TRT 2 late Monday that Turkey sent the revised nuclear bid back, but he didn't elaborate.

The Turkish power providers TETAS will prepare a report on the nuclear tender and submit it for the approval of a Turkish council of ministers.

Meanwhile energy experts say the price is so high and they expect the council of ministers not to approve the tender.
