Gazprom OAO (GAZP.RS) plans to spend more to develop energy-saving technology and improving its commercial processing of gas, the Itar-Tass news agency said Friday, citing Gazprom's news service.
The company's board of directors also asked several divisions to look into the gas-saving potential of energy companies, it said.
Meanwhile, the company's units plan to take part in the finalization of the bill On Energy Saving and Energy Efficiency, aimed at improving energy efficiency in Russia, it said.
Total potential of Russia's gas savings is between 172 billion and 177 billion cubic meters, or about 40% of the country's total domestic gas consumption, the report said.
