This month's cut-off of Russian gas deliveries cost Croatian industry about EUR270 million, the main grouping of Croatian employers said Sunday.

"According to our estimates, the losses ranged between 1% and 10% of annual revenues, or between 30% and 80% of profits," said Djuro Popijac, head of the Croatian Employers' Association, or HUP.

About a quarter of Croatian industries had reported losses, Popijac told national television.

The chemical industry was among the hardest, losing up to EUR350,000 daily, according to the HUP.

A dispute between Russia and Ukraine saw deliveries halted to Croatia on Jan. 6. Croatia imports 40% of its gas from Moscow.

Last Tuesday, Zagreb called off a state of emergency after Russia finally restarted the deliveries.
