A memorandum of understanding was signed between Nuclear Power Corp. of India and KazAtomProm of Kazakhstan, the ministry said in a statement, according to Kyodo.

Indian and Kazakh officials also signed four other pacts, including an extradition treaty, in a ceremony attended by Indian President Pratibha Patil and Kazakh President Nursultan Nazarbayev, the report added.

Patil oversaw the inking of the four pacts as Prime Minister Manmohan Singh underwent coronary bypass surgery on Saturday.

Nazarbayev is in India on an official visit.
