The European Investment Bank is ready to finance up to 25% of the estimated EUR8 billion costs for the Nabucco pipeline which aims to ship natural gas straight to Europe from Central Asia via Turkey, EIB President Philippe Maystadt said Tuesday.
"We are willing to play an active role in the structuring of the commercial contracts (for the pipeline)," Maystadt told a conference on the planned 3,300-kilometer pipeline, billed as a way to reduce the European Union's dependance on Russian gas supplies.
