Ukraine's 19 state-owned sea ports handled 132.17 million metric tons of cargo in 2008, an increase of 6.8% compared with 2007, the transport and communications ministry reported Wednesday.
The handling of transit cargoes, mostly to and from Russia and Kazakhstan, fell in 2008 by 1.1% on the year to 51.35 million tons.
The handling of transit dry cargoes fell by 9.5% on the year to 31.79 million tons, while the handling of liquid transit cargoes increased by 16.3% to 19.56 million tons.
