Eni SpA's (E) chief executive said Friday he sees oil prices at about $40 a barrel in 2009.
"I expect that oil prices will remain low for a few months. When I talk of low prices, I am talking about prices around $40 a barrel," Paolo Scaroni told a conference in Milan.
Eni is Italy's biggest energy company by market value.
