LONDON (Dow Jones)--Oil and gas company Victoria Oil & Gas PLC (VOG.LN) Tuesday said the Kazakhstan courts have refused to hear its appeal against a claim brought against its Kazakh unit over its Kemerkol license.
Victoria is pursuing the former owner of the license in the U.K. courts for damages arising from a dispute over the license's ownership.
Victoria said the Kazakh claim is without merit and the Supreme Court offered no explanation as to why it wouldn't hear its appeal. The company has now lodged an appeal with the office of the Kazakhstan General Prosecutor.
Also Tuesday, Victoria said it planned to acquire Faclon Petroleum Ltd. once survey results from Ethiopia are known.
