Germany's RWE Expects 100,000 Electricity Customers In 2009

FRANKFURT (Dow Jones)--German energy company RWE AG (RWE.XE) said Friday it will have gained 100,000 new electricity customers in 2009, mainly due to its discount unit Eprimo.

FRANKFURT (Dow Jones)--German energy company RWE AG (RWE.XE) said Friday it will have gained 100,000 new electricity customers in 2009, mainly due to its discount unit Eprimo.

After the end of the third quarter, the company already registered 58,000 new customers.

After the liberalization of the power market in 1998, the company faced falling customer figures until mid 2008. From that point in time, the figures went up again thanks to Eprimo.
