Romanian natural gas supplier Romgaz Medias will continue negotiations with Russia’s giant Gazprom on gas storage co-operation, Romgaz general manager Marcel Piteiu said Wednesday.

Economy Minister Adriean Videanu and Romgaz's head met earlier Wednesday with Gazprom vice-president Alexander Medvedev. The officials talked about setting up a natural gas storage facility in Romania.

Both Videanu and Medvedev declined to give a statement after the meeting.

Romgaz and Gazprom signed in June last year a memorandum to set up a joint company to develop natural gas storage facilities in Romania. The joint venture would also invest in power production.

Romgaz Medias is majority owned by the Economy Ministry. The company plans to invest 1.2 billion lei (EUR1=RON4.1196) in 2010, a 41% increase from last year.
