Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovich
suggested signing a new agreement on the price of gas with
Russia
during its President Dmitry Medvedev’s upcoming visit to
Kiev
.
“Speaking of the future visit by Russian
President Dmitry Medvedev to
Ukraine
,
Yanukovich noted the need to prepare a number of agreements for signing. Among
priority ones Yanukovich named particularly a new agreement on the price of
gas,” the president said at a meeting with Foreign Minister Konstantin
Grishchenko on Monday, the presidential press service said.
Yanukovich also believes it necessary to
settle issues concerning border demarcation between
Ukraine
and
Russia
, cooperation in the field of aircraft making and atomic energy, as well
as the attraction of Russian investments, primarily during preparations for the
final part of the European football championship in
Ukraine
in 2012.
The president also noted the need to build
three nuclear power units in the country. “We have the practice of doing this
together. Together we can provide almost 100 percent of equipment for the
construction of these units,” Yanukovich said.
Medvedev is scheduled to visit Ukraine in
May.
