construction of Nord Stream, a pipeline to pump natural gas from
Russia
to
Europe
under the
Baltic Sea
.
The first symbolic weld was made in the presence of Russian President
Dmitry Medvedev, Gazprom CEO Alexei Miller, and Nord Stream board director
Gerhard Schroeder.
