Eni SpA (E) said Friday its board had authorized the energy company to issue up to EUR3 billion in corporate bonds.

Eni didn't disclose information on to whom the bonds would be targeted or their
likely maturity, saying only the issue "will enable Eni to achieve a
better balance between its short-term and medium/long-term debt."
Earlier Friday Eni issued its first-quarter results, noting it had cut net debt
by EUR2 billion in the first three months of the year.
