South Korea 's September crude-oil imports rose 0.3% compared with a year earlier, to 80.8 million barrels, the Ministry of Knowledge Economy said Monday.

In value terms,
Korea 's overall energy imports edged downward last month because of falling gas and coal imports amid sluggish domestic demand, the ministry said.

The average crude-oil import price was $112.6 a barrel, up 2.4% from $109.9 last September, it said.

The value of
South Korea 's crude imports rose 2.7% to $9.10 billion.

Inbound shipments of petroleum products increased 26.9% compared with the same period last year, to $2.34 billion, while imports of liquefied natural gas and liquefied petroleum gas decreased by 18.8% on year, to $2.65 billion, according to the ministry's preliminary data.

September imports of coal were down 34.3% at $1.26 billion.

The ministry didn't provide a breakdown of figures by origin.
