Saudi Arabia will name Mohammed al-Madi as its next governor for the Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries, two people familiar with the matter said Tuesday.

Petroleum Exporting Countries, two people familiar with the matter said
Tuesday.
Mr. Al-Madi has been managing director of Aramco Asia Korea since November
2012. Prior to that he was regional vice president of Saudi Petroleum Ltd. in
Beijing
.
He will take over from Yasser Mufti who leaves at the end of 2013 after more
than a year in the post. Mr. Mufti will return to Saudi Aramco.
OPEC governors act as country liaison representatives between individual
members and the organization and sit on the board of governors.
Saudi Arabia
is
traditionally OPEC's top producer.
Iran
,
Kuwait
and
Nigeria
have
also recently appointed new OPEC governors.
