Russian state oil giant OAO Rosneft (ROSN.RS) said Tuesday its third-quarter net profit was 280 billion rubles ($8.8 billion), more than half of which came from a revaluation of assets from the TNK-BP oil company it bought earlier this year.

Rosneft in March completed deals totaling some $60 billion to take over TNK-BP and become the world's largest-listed crude oil producer. A "preliminary revaluation" of the assets added RUB167 billion to third-quarter net income, Rosneft said in a statement.

Net income was also supported by the appreciation of the ruble against the dollar, Rosneft said.

Revenue for the quarter stood at RUB1.36 trillion, with earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortization, or Ebitda, at RUB303 billion.

Rosneft didn't provide figures for comparison with last year's results.

Rosneft said liquids production grew 0.2% on the previous quarter to 4.19 million barrels of oil equivalent per day, supported by drilling at its Vankor and Uvat greenfields.

Gas output was up 16.2% to 10.8 billion cubic meters following the buyout of a former partner in the Itera gas producer.
