Russian state gas company OAO Gazprom (GAZP.RS) has received less than 10% of the money it is owed by Ukraine's Naftogaz for August gas supplies, Gazprom spokesman Sergei Kupriyanov was quoted as saying Tuesday.

"Some payments are being received, but it's teardrops at the moment. It's
a long way to full payment at this speed," he said, Interfax news agency
reported.
Ukrainian Energy Minsiter Eduard Stavitskiy was quoted earlier Tuesday as
saying
Ukraine
has
started sending payments for the $882 million bill.
Gazprom last week demanded that
Ukraine
settle the overdue bill, raising fears of a repeat of the supply problems that
have disrupted winter deliveries to
Europe
twice
in recent years.
Previous payment disputes led Gazprom to cut flows to
Ukraine
in
2006 and 2009, disrupting supplies to some European countries that receive
Russian natural gas via
Ukraine
.
